News: Group Buy & New Growers

This post expired on June 27, 2023.

Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe the 4th of July is right around the corner. This summer is flying by! We will have a normal pick up schedule this Tuesday.

Group Buy This Weekend

Sustainably Caught Wild Seafood Bulk Order this Weekend

This weekend we will be having our group bulk order for Wild Caught Seafood from Vital Choice. We only do this a few times a year and will not have another seafood group buy again until November when Heidi (from Wild Salmon Company) gets back from Alaska.

In order for us to get discount pricing we have to reach certain minimums, if we do not reach the minimums on all the items I will let you know and you will have the option to purchase at the non-discounted price and still take advantage of our FREE shipping. More details about Vital Choice is at the bottom of this weblog.

New Grower: Caley’s Culinaries Farms

I am very excited to welcome Rebecca Caley of Caley’s Culinaries to our family of growers. Caley’s Culinaries is a small family farm located in Buford,GA in the Hamilton Mill area. Their property is only 1 of 2 properties still zoned agricultural in that area! They have a variety of seasonal produce growing but what’s ready right now is their Genovese Basil that is perfect for making pesto or a fresh caprese salad. Dry it in a low temp oven and you’ll have basil ready at all times to season your favorite dishes. They will list more items as they are ready. For more info about Rebecca and Caley’s Culinaries check out the links below:

All grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers!

Goat Milk: New Grower

It is with sadness that I let you know that Montage Farm will no longer be able to provide the co-op with raw goat milk. Most of you know that they’ve lost their farm help a few months ago. In addition, Angie had back surgery last winter but is still not where she was before she hurt her back. Due to these issues they have made the difficult decision to sell most of their herd and are drying up the rest. Please keep Angie and her family in your prayers as they go through this transition.

In lieu of this news, I am happy to announce that Rusty Repp of Little Tots Estate in Loganville, GA will provide the co-op with raw goat milk starting this week. Rusty raises Nigerian Dwarf Goats Nigerian dwarf milk is highest in butterfat and solids compared to most other breeds of dairy goats. His entire herd is CAE free (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis) and Johnes negative and they are healthy happy little goats. He will be offering his raw goat milk under the Georgia pet milk license.

Vendors on Vacation

A&A Alta Cucina and Orobianco are both in Italy! Their items are currently unavailable but will be back on the market once they return.

Glass Jars Still Available

Glass Jars are still available if you’d like to purchase milk from Cedar Rock Farm in glass. I will keep the jar sets listed on the co-op site until they are sold out. Please refer to the the Q&A section of the website for more information about the glass jar program.

Only those members that bought jars last week or brought me jars BEFORE Tuesday 6/25 will be allowed to purchase in glass this weekend. All others must purchase milk in plastic.
