New Items:Wild Salmon,Quail Eggs, Goat Milk & Laundry

This post expired on October 10, 2023.

Hi Everyone,

New:Doug’s Wild Alaska Salmon

I am very happy to welcome Doug & Melissa Resetarits of Doug’s Wild Alaska Salmon to our family of growers and producers! Wild Salmon will now be available weekly instead of quarterly. Due to this switch I will only have a shellfish order with Vital Choice. All wild caught salmon will be from Doug’s Wild Alaska Salmon going forward.

Doug’s Wild Alaska Salmon is owned and operated by the Resetarits family with three generations of Alaskan fisherman spanning a 30 year period.

Doug is a Homer, Alaska native, a licensed Coast Guard captain and former Bering Sea crabber of “Deadliest Catch” fame.

Every year in June and July, Doug and his family operate four 32 foot fishing boats in Bristol Bay. Bristol Bay is the largest wild “red salmon” or sockeye salmon fishery in the world. Certified sustainable, natural, and robust, the Alaska salmon fisheries are known worldwide as a model of successful fisheries management and economic prosperity.

Doug will have Whole Salmon Fillets, Salmon portions, Smoked Salmon and Wild Alaskan Halibut on the market site starting this weekend.

Fillets and portions are fresh-frozen with the skin on, boneless and individually vacuum packaged.

Goat Milk Is Back!

Little Tots Estate has goat milk again! Look for it on the market this weekend.

Quail Eggs from BeeBerry Farms

BeeBerry Farms now has Certified Naturally Grown Quail Eggs! These little eggs are a nutrient dense powerhouse! Despite their size, quail eggs have a nutritional value is three to four times greater than chicken eggs.
Some interesting facts about quail eggs:

  • contain 140 percent of vitamin B1 compared to only 50 percent in chicken eggs
  • provide five times as much iron and potassium
  • have not been shown to cause allergies or diathesis (may actually help to fight allergy symptoms due to the ovomucoid protein they contain)
  • richer in phosphorus and calcium than a chicken egg
  • contain twice as much vitamin A and B2 than a chicken egg

Quail eggs can be prepared any way you would cook chicken eggs and can be used in baking.

New Products from Molly’s Suds

Molly’s Suds has listed some new laundry care products! Look for 100% Wool Dryer Balls, Cloth Diaper Laundry Powder and a smaller size Molly’s Suds Laundry Powder on the market.

The market will open up tomorrow morning (Friday) for ordering and close at 5pm on Sunday.

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
