Vendors on Vacation this week

Bob from Bradbury Honey and Mark from Southern Essentials will be on vacation this week. They will both be back on the market next week.

Carrell Farms and Buffalo Gal was on vacation and is back on the market this week!

Green Pasture FCLO Alert

As you all know I’ve been a supporter of Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil products for many years. Last Saturday a study was released that gave me a lot of distress. A link to the study is here http://drkaayladaniel.com/hook-line-and-stinker-opt-in/
In a nutshell, tests were done and the oil was found to be rancid and not Artic Cod but Alaskan Pollack (in the cod family but a less expensive fish used commercially in products such as fish sticks and imitation crab).

There are always at least two sides to every story so I awaited Dave Wetzel’s (Green Pasture owner) response that was released on Monday. Click here to see response http://www.greenpasture.org/utility/showarticle/?eid=4186&usid=d5348b9f776164425b6bbf8ebf0556bc&objectID=9336

I will tell you all that this year I have personally had some trouble getting the FCLO to go down. I’ve been thinking that maybe my taste buds are changing as I’m getting older but now I’m wondering if it’s my body telling something is not right. I’m hoping it’s just old age.. My family and I have seen some remarkable benefits in the past from this product and I know many of you have too. I want you all to have as much information as possible to make an informed decision.

As for me, right now, a seed of doubt has definitely been placed in my mind and I am holding off consuming or giving this product to my family. I will never recommend a product that I would not personally give to my own family. In the meantime, we will no longer have a group buy for Green Pasture until it is clear what the truth is. Weston A Price Foundation is currently investigating the allegations and I am confident that the truth will come out!

I will keep you posted as more information is released in the upcoming weeks.

Here are also some links to what others are saying to help you make an informed decision:

New Vendor: FarmHouse Poundcakes

If gives me great pleasure to welcome Ellen Dawe of FarmHouse PoundCakes to our family of producers and growers! Many of you had the opportunity to meet her on Tuesday during pickup and try out some samples of poundcakes, gluten free poundcake, and granola. I’ve heard lots of great feedback!

Starting this weekend their PoundCakes, Gluten Free PoundCakes, Granola, and PanCake Mixes will be listed on the market!

Info about FarmHouse Pancakes:

FarmHouse PoundCakes are made with the finest ingredients, sourcing local ingredients whenever possible. From King Arthur Flour, pure cane sugar, real butter, sour cream and Nielsen Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla to the farm fresh eggs. Simple ingredients, mostly organic and always homemade. Chances are, the eggs in your cake were laid the day it was baked!

Our hens are Heritage Breeds (not genetically modified) and are Animal Welfare Approved, raised and fed the way Mother Nature intended. Happy healthy hens make healthy and delicious eggs!

Our Gluten Free cakes are made with an excellent combination of ancient grains that give a wonderful texture as well as being a healthier gluten free grain (no rice flour used).

New Vendor: Sentient Collective

Introducing Sentient Collective! Sentient Collective’s goal is to connect people with fresh, local, sustainability grown food. Knate and Sam are on a mission to steward as much green-space as possible for the production of clean local food!
From the Spring of 2015 Sentient Collective has been stewarding the land many of you know as BeeBerry Farms. Some of you lucky few may have had the opportunity to come out to the farm and meet Knate and Sam! Sentient collective is now managing all commercial and agricultural operations on BeeBerry Farms! Many of the items that were currently listed under BeeBerry Farms have been switched over to Sentient Collective. We just wanted you to know of the new name change as to not cause confusion. Kevin from BeeBerry Farms will still be part of the co-op but will be launching other products in the near future.
