New Vendor, Upcoming Group Buys and More...
New Vendor: Southern Essentials
I am very happy to welcome Mark and Erin Fantom of Southern Essentials to our family of producers and growers! You might have seen Mark and Erin at the Suwanee Farmers Market. They’ve been there for 2 years now but have been making natural skin care products for over 20 years. Southern Essentials is based in Buford, GA and produces handcrafted soaps using 100% pure essential oils and other pure/natural ingredients. Their formula has been over 25 years in the making and produces a very hard bar, cold processed soap. Their soap is very mild, lathers very well, moisturizes and softens the skin. They have listed over 20 different handcrafted soaps including samples. Look for their items starting tomorrow!
No More Recycling… except Egg Cartons
I am a very big proponent of recycling and reusing whenever possible. Unfortunately I’ve run out of room to store all the recyclables. As of this week I will no longer take NGD Produce Boxes or freezer packs. Please recycle those through your community recycling program. I will still continue to take egg cartons since I have plenty of egg crates to store those in and they don’t take up much room.

Goat Milk Is Back!
Little Tots Estate has goat milk again! Look for it on the market this weekend.
Quail Eggs from BeeBerry Farms
BeeBerry Farms now has Certified Naturally Grown Quail Eggs! These little eggs are a nutrient dense powerhouse! Despite their size, quail eggs have a nutritional value is three to four times greater than chicken eggs.
Some interesting facts about quail eggs:
- contain 140 percent of vitamin B1 compared to only 50 percent in chicken eggs
- provide five times as much iron and potassium
- have not been shown to cause allergies or diathesis (may actually help to fight allergy symptoms due to the ovomucoid protein they contain)
- richer in phosphorus and calcium than a chicken egg
- contain twice as much vitamin A and B2 than a chicken egg
Quail eggs can be prepared any way you would cook chicken eggs and can be used in baking.
New Products from Molly’s Suds
Molly’s Suds has listed some new laundry care products! Look for 100% Wool Dryer Balls, Cloth Diaper Laundry Powder and a smaller size Molly’s Suds Laundry Powder on the market.

It is rich in B-Vitamins (needed for energy release) iron, folic acid, vitamin E and high in the antioxidant selenium. My son has been enjoying it toasted with Blue Moon Creamery Fruit Trio cheese. He gives it 2 thumbs up!

They use no preservatives and nothing artificial. The honey they use in their bread is from local hives in south Georgia.Look for this and other delicious breads on the market this weekend.
Future Workshops- Your input is needed!
I’ve been wanting to expand the educational aspect of the co-op and lead some workshops on various topics for a long time. Kevin Toth from BeeBerry Farms has graciously offered his beautiful farm as a place to hold the workshops.
We’ve been brainstorming some ideas and have come up with an idea for our first workshop! Our 2 hour workshop will include soap making, culturing dairy (yogurt making) and making kombucha tea. Kevin, who is a soap maker (his soaps are listed on the market)will walk you through the art of soap making step by step. I will show how easy it is to make your own cultured dairy products such yogurt, crème fraiche and clabbered milk. In addition, I will discuss the benefits of kombucha and how to make it at home for pennies. You will leave the workshop with soap, a yogurt starter and a kombucha scoby.
We need your feedback! Before we go any further in our planning process we need to make sure there is interest in this type of workshop.
Other future ideas are:
Raising Backyard Chickens
Butter Making (Cultured & Sweet Cream)
Hydroponics
Growing Berries
Beekeeping
Making Bone Broth
Proper Preparation of Grains (soaking and Sourdough)
How to Ferment Vegetables (kimchi, sauerkraut, etc.)
How to make Water Kefir/Milk KefirPlease email any other ideas/topics you’d like to learn about and reply if you are interested in attending a workshop. If we don’t have the interest we will not offer them at this time.
The market will open up tomorrow morning (Friday) for ordering and close at 5pm on Sunday.
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
