Group Buy: Wild Caught Shrimp

This is the last weekend to order for the December delivery of Ocean to Table, HACCP Certified Wild Caught Georgia Shrimp from St. Simons Island Shrimp Specialist (SISS)!

This product is available for pickup the first Tuesday in December (THIS UPCOMING TUESDAY. DECEMBER 6TH).

These shrimp are large (26 count per lb.)“heads-off” shrimp. This is a recurring monthly group buy.

SISS will be offering shrimp are IQF and in frozen block. For the IQF shrimp, you can just reach into bag and grab as many as you need to use. The IQF shrimp are the creme de la creme of shrimp. They are fresh caught and “headed”, then placed into a salt brine tank for 10 min and flash frozen right on the boat to ensure freshness. These IQF shrimp are fresher than fresh, when you thaw them out, it’s like they just came out of the ocean! When you buy fresh shrimp they have already been out of the water and on ice for 24-48 hrs. Fresh shrimp will stay good on ice for up to 3-5 days. The IQF shrimp have a 6 month shelf life.

The frozen shrimp in 5lb blocks are blast frozen (to ensure freshness) and then packaged in our restaurant delivery boxes for your convenience for your freezer. Shelf life up to 2 years. If you would like to thaw out just a few at a time, open box, pull back bag and run COLD water over portion of frozen block until you can get what you need then, close up bag and box and put back in freezer.

These same shrimp sell for $12.99 per pound at our local grocers on the coast of Georgia. If you can find them in the Atlanta area they will be at least $15 per pound. Take advantage of the great price of $9.99 per lb!

I’ve heard from many of you that this is the best shrimp you’ve ever had and I agree! We are so blessed to have such a great source!

Wild Caught Shrimp is an excellent source of Tryptophan (an essential amino acid), Vitamin B12, Healthful fats, including omega-3, saturated fat and cholesterol, Selenium, Protein, an Astaxanthin.

Carrell Farms & Buffalo Gal (REPEAT)

Carrell Farms & Buffalo Gal are back on the market!

They took their items off temporarily to figure out the logistics of getting their items to us and other markets without taking too much time away from the farm. I’m so glad to we are able to find a way to continue to work with Carrell Farms to provide the market Pasture Raised Water Buffalo, Lamb, and Alpaca!

The solution we worked out is this: allow members to order each week but Carrell Farms will deliver to our market once per month ( the 2nd week of each month). Next delivery is December 13th .

Buffalo Gal items will also be available and be shipped directly to your address and/or we will have table sales items available at pick up.

Collagen/Gelatin & FCLO Info

Great Lakes Gelatin (the Green can) Collagen Hydrolysate (beef kosher) Unflavored

Gelatin (also known as cooked collagen) has wonderful anti-inflammatory and anti-aging qualities, as it helps to fill in the missing amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) in the standard American diet. This is a completely different from the jiggly gelatin product most of us grew up eating as kids.

Homemade bone broth is chock full of gelatin and very nutrient dense but Great Lakes Gelatin- Collagen is a convenient way to get gelatin consistently into your diet.

What is Collagen Hydrolysate?

Hydrolyzed Collagen is the unique combination of amino acids in concentrated levels that promotes rapid re-production of blood cells for healing and conditioning over other proteins especially for bone and joint health care. This low molecular weight protein is easily digested for healthy enrichment in minutes after ingestion. It will not congeal because it has been hydrolyzed for quick assimilation and improved hydration to the connective tissue. Collagen is important to nitrogen balance, now considered an anti-aging product as it supports age related cartilage damage, and collagen loss. source: http://greatlakesgelatin.com/)

How do I use this product?
You can mix it in drinks, shakes, smoothies, or add a tablespoon to your favorite recipe to give it an anti-inflammatory protein boost. It will dissolve in cold liquids very easily.

How Much Do You Need?
Recommended dosage: Take one rounded tablespoon (10-12 g) in the morning, and the same amount before going to bed in the late evening which will help reduce appetite. This product has a low molecular weight so it will dissolve in cold, warm, or hot liquids.

Important Note: Remember not to get too carried away with gelatin. Adding too much too quickly can cause digestive issues: bloating, loss of appetite, stomach ache are just a few side effects.

It’s important to remember that more gelatin is not always better, especially if you are adding it to your diet for the first time.

Gelatin should be used in addition to a nutrient dense diet and not to replace real food like homemade bone broths and grass fed meats.

It is also really important to take this daily. You will see maximum results if you include it in your daily routine.
